GAR GLASS
Gregory A. Richards, known in the glass art world as GAR, is a flamework artist based in the heart of Joshua Tree, California. Surrounded by the raw beauty and creative energy of the desert, Gregory draws inspiration from the natural world to inform his intricate glasswork.
Specializing in gold and silver fuming techniques, his work explores the alchemy of heat, metal, and glass—capturing vibrant, shifting tones and creating one-of-a-kind fume pattern designs that are both technically complex and visually mesmerizing. Each piece is a study in color, light, and flow, reflecting years of dedication to the craft and a deep respect for the material.
Gregory’s practice blends traditional flameworking with a modern eye for form and symmetry, often pushing the limits of what can be achieved through fume work. With every flame-lit session, he continues to explore the ever-evolving possibilities of borosilicate glass, building a body of work that is as much about artistic expression as it is about process and precision.
